Should I Rock Barack?

Two weeks ago you could have signed me up for definite Obama vote. But again I am torn. My Christian values tend to make me a republican, the African American struggle tend to make me a democrat. Now, I'm all for having a black president. I think it would be major for our people, our self-esteem, and how other races view us. But I just can mess with him on his liberal views.I won't get into details. You guys know the deal. Give me insight.

Top 5 Reasons You Can't Blame Artest for Fall of the Indiana Pacers

5. David Stern

I know the NBA is a business, but David Stern's obsession with the image of the league is over the top. Ron Artest "assaulted" in an unprecedented way so David Stern throws the book at him. Artest should have received 30 games and been done. But no, Mr. Stern had to prove how much power he has.

4. Larry Bird

Where do I start!!! Hiding behind Donnie Walsh? Sarunas Jasikevicius flop? The mistakes are too many to number, but I need an answer to this. You say the Pacers need to play a fast paced style. You go out and draft Shawne Williams and claim you would have picked James White in the first round, but get him in the second by trading a pick. You get Al Harrington. But keep the biggest control freak at coach! Al Harrington struggles. Stephen Jackson starts shooting at strip clubs so you blow the whole plan up? You take back worse contracts then you had before and we are terrible. Never mind the fact Harrington and Jack go on to lead the most memorable first round upset ever.

All the while Carlisle is the coach. Then you fire him! If you would have hired Jim O'brien when we actually had talent we'd still be at top 3 team in the east. But no, you stuck with the good ol' boy one season too long and now were in the Michael Beasley sweepstakes.

3. Jermaine O'neal

Love him as a person. But he is a Robin at best. Terrific third option. And that is what Ron Artest was trying to say. He wanted more touches, because J.O. can't carry a team. So Jermaine threw Ron under the bus and went on to mediocrity.

I'm thinking of blogging on the "I need to put on weight" craze that took the NBA from 95-05. But anyway. Ever since O'neal put on weight to be a center, his offense has been terrible. Block shots are okay, but max money players should dominate games. Believe it or not, 20 and 10 doesn't necessarily mean you are a star.

2. The Jerk with the Cup

I mean come on. Anyone with sense knows a white man don't hit a 6'8 black man from Queensbridge projects. :) No "cold one" should get you so messed up that you forget common sense. I give him credit for aim, but common sense...not so much. I guess he won in the end, they got Artest out. They got to drag another player through the mud for 18 months. Stern got his dress code.

1. Hoosier Hysteria

Back cut. Screen. Box out. Rocker step. Play the right way. Bobby Knight. The Movie Hoosiers. Conseco Fieldhouse. Milan. Class basketball.

I'm from Nap, but DANG!!! I get tired of people talking about Indiana tradition. I guess its time to move on. Fire Davis, Fire Sampson, Fire Jesus if he doesn't box out. We don't build stadiums we build fieldhouses. Check out the Lucas Oil Dome when it comes out and compare it to Dallas' new stadium. It's another fieldhouse. Most Hoosiers don't want to admit it but they dream about the good ol Bobby Knight days. They still have pictures of Steve Alford on their wall. It was 1987 for crying out loud. 20 years isn't enough.

Look. No one cares about our history. The past is gone. We will have to embrace all types of ball players even if they dribble through there legs and can dunk a basketball. Believe it or not, those player are pretty good too. So was Ron Artest, but you ran him off. Why, because he never fit the "Hoosier" mode. The problem is, we don't know what a Hoosier is anyway.

Do you believe in two dogs?

TWO DOGS WHAT???

This comes from a random joke Martin Lawrence told on his 1995 album called Funk it. It is so subtly funny to me and I think it is a good name for a blog on random thoughts. I intend to talk mostly about sports, but I will probably talk about more sensitive issues...well because I feel like it. It is a new year and hopefully I can touch the world at least 12 times. Don't expect some long journalist blog. I will just spill might thoughts out and hopefully someone will feel me.

Peace
